i love this page, not only because of owen’s attitude, but because you can really tell more of how much he actually despises himself. his distrust of sam really shows this, since he automatically assumes she doesnt actually give a rat’s ass about him. we dont know if she does, but based on how the FIRST thing she said to him was that she wanted to help him, its safe to assume she does at least somewhat care.
we already know owen has self-esteem problems and has tried to kill himself before, but this page really seals the deal. its almost heartbreaking that once he died he turned to this criminalistic life. of course, he’s obviously done horrific things, and there’s no reason one should sympathize with him (at least in-universe).
so, the fact that sam is giving him the time of day and isnt afraid or terrorizing him, well, it really seems to have shocked him. with all the things this boy has done, we -and sam, now, although she’s most likely unaware of what he’s done- still want him to be okay since he’s suffered so much himself. #GiveOwenARedemptionArc2k17
i, by contrast, could not be happier with the prospect of everyone either being dead by the comic’s end or wishing they were dead. B) i’m a lot of fun at parties
I don’t know that it really is possible to redeem Owen without him changing who he is at his core, which would be disappointing. Like, he knows he’s a monster. He knows his behavior is beyond fucked up and he takes a mocking kind of pride in it. To redeem him would make him apologetic, which js something I don’t think Owen really…. Wants to be capable of.
I’m not even sure how a redemption arc would work with Owen. He takes such pride in what he does, even if it’s false pride, and he seems almost incapable of caring for other people. Even his weird awful ‘protectiveness’ of PJ – which lead him to murder a bunch of teenagers and terrorize the other boy – wasn’t something he could properly admit it to. I can’t imagine how his personality would have to develop in order for him to gain the sort of empathy needed to redeem himself.
“When you get this, I’ll be having a guest for a few days so call before you come over. But I’d still like to talk?” hopeful brokenness of the ending chips at Owen’s resolve.
Oh this can only end well!

Davey will surely make this allllllll better.
Seriously though Owen using Sam’s full name like he’s her pissed off parent is hilarious. What a brat.
What a terrible child!!! Grounded!!! You’re being burried again!! Time out
Actually idk if he was ever burried but. Its a grounded joke, and he’s a zombie.. its funny right
I love how Owen always seems to go from 0-100 so quick.
I think this may be one of my favorite pages thus far, the story is getting so enthralling!
