Carville is as unreasonable as Davey, in his own way. He doesn’t like him, and he sure as SHIT doesn’t respect him, and he’s a strong enough judge of character to believe Davey isn’t fool enough to beat the shit out of his best friend’s potential date before it even happens – especially in light of the fact that everything he’s said so far has been completely reasonable and truthful.
Whether or not Davey’s likely to put up with all this is still up in the air, but you know. ;D Just a little insight into his reasoning! Carville’s supposed to be a difficult/surprising/frustrating character to get a handle on, which I think is possibly going to make people leery of him; but I like the idea of someone in the cult not having any fear whatsoever of death, zombification or mass violence, seeing as it’s kind of their lives, and not putting up with any of Davey’s shit if it means missing a real date with a purdy girl.
As to why he and the others there don’t exactly drop to their knees and worship at Davey’s feet and do whatever he says; this isn’t the entire group. Most of the cult have their own personal reasons for being there, and most of them are pathetic shock jockeys who don’t give a shit about the cause, just about making a stir. Carville has his own reasons for being there. :B
(sorry for the ramble! I don’t usually like explaining away character’s actions, but I thought the amount of “ugh what is he doing” warranted a response here :D)
What Jess said. Carville’s still part of a potentially unsafe cult that Sam thinks very little of. If he thinks Davey’s the only thing standing in the way of him having a healthy relationship with Sam, then he’s delusional.
Also Carville, those two sort of spend all their time together, along with Chainey. Davey doesn’t have a single reason NOT to tell Sam about your involvement with the cult, especially since 1) they are friends and friends look out for each other and 2) they’re sort of stuck in this mess of zombie cult bullshit together and it only makes sense to tell each other what’s up when it comes to the situation at hand.
(and Chainey. God Chainey you awkward third wheel, you.)
Oh and uh, my clumsy analyzing of web comic characters aside, DAVEY’S FACE IN THE FIRST AND SECOND PANELS. My heart, sob.
I feel like it’s sorta like the relationship Captain Hammer has with Penny. He only met her once, but then starts dating her just ’cause Dr. Horrible wants her, but can’t have her.
dude. that seems like a pretty hard thing to forget. 8|
FRAAANKLY i think Davey’s just not a violent human being. or. y’know. …zombie. he knows the cult is a pack of rabid assholes, but i mean, he’s not gonna KILL anybody. he’s a hero! =]
awww his face in the 2nd panel :'(
Carville! you BASTARD! :0
i also just noticed how tan carville really is! 😀
He really doesn’t have any substantial leverage to boss him around.
davey’s face in the second panel.

I feel like it’s sorta like the relationship Captain Hammer has with Penny. He only met her once, but then starts dating her just ’cause Dr. Horrible wants her, but can’t have her.
Poor Davey ):}
such grumpy faces in the last panel…
Scooter, i think the reason why Davey doesnt rip the arms off them, is MAYBE because Davey sometimes forget hes a zombie…
dude. that seems like a pretty hard thing to forget. 8|
