i kinda wondered pj’s question too, but so much more happened as the story progressed that i completely forgot holy shit! so, if chainey’s actually got his memories back like this page is hinting, did it happen when lazaro shocked him or…possibly even before that, since he knew how much the whistle would bother owen? is there that much misdirection going on or am i getting ahead of myself aaaaa
(also props to pj for staying sharp through all this. kid’s been through so much omg. allllso i love how expressive chainey’s body language+expression in the last panel are!!)
I’m thinking maybe some of it is coming back but otherwise it’s probably mostly gut feelings about things. Like he had that random memory of his mom (?) scolding him for always blowing the whistle as a kid but that doesn’t necessarily mean he remembers everything.
